In Mongardino
Mongardino, a town which is about 9 km from Asti, is made up of several hamlets scattered throughout the area and each has something interesting that makes it worth visiting.
Starting from the hamlet of Madonna, where the house is located, you can visit the church, which has very ancient origins: news of it dates back to 1698 and it was built to thank the Blessed Virgin for the miraculous healing of a local young man to whom he was appeared.
In autumn, the main season for the town, visiting it you can come across the grape harvest or it can simply be a passing destination for Asti, for the festival of sagre or the Palio, or for nearby Alba, queen of the truffle.
The main local production is wine. DOC wines such as Barbera d'Asti, Barbera del Monferrato, Grignolino, Dolcetto and Cortese are produced in the area and can be purchased from individual producers or from the Cantina dei Vignaioli Asti barbera in San Marzanotto.
